Increasingly, the landscape is defined by skills shortages and rising inflation. In this challenging environment, AI promises to drive efficiency, automate routine tasks, and enhance decision-making.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newswire.com\/news\/more-than-half-of-businesses-plan-to-adopt-ai-within-the-next-two-years-22278311\">A new survey<\/a> of IT leaders found that 57% of organisations have \u201cconcrete plans\u201d in place to adopt AI in a meaningful way in the near future. Around 25% of these organisations were already implementing AI solutions throughout their organisations. The remaining remaining 32% plan to do so within the next two years.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the advent of AI (not to mention increasing digitisation in general) also raises new concerns for cybersecurity teams.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe adoption of AI technology across industries is both exciting and concerning from a cybersecurity perspective. AI undeniably has the potential to revolutionise business operations and drive efficiency. However, it also introduces new attack vectors and risks that organisations must be prepared to address,\u201d Carlos Salas, a cybersecurity expert at NordLayer, commented after the release of the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cybersecurity-investment-and-new-threats-nbsp\">Cybersecurity investment and new threats&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>IT budgets in general are going to rise in 2024. For around half of all businesses (48%), \u201cincreased security concerns\u201d are a primary driver of this increased spend.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs AI adoption accelerates, allocating adequate resources for cybersecurity will be crucial to safeguarding these cutting-edge technologies and the sensitive data they process,\u201d says Salas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A similar report conducted earlier this year by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaspersky.com\/about\/press-releases\/2024_more-than-half-of-companies-use-ai-and-iot-in-their-business-processes\">cybersecurity firm Kaspersky<\/a> reaffirms Salas&#8217; opinion. The report argues that it\u2019s pivotal that enterprises investing heavily into AI (as well as IoT) also invest in the \u201cright calibre of cybersecurity solutions\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, Kaspersky also found that more than 50% of companies have implemented AI and IoT in their infrastructures. Additionally, around a third are planning to adopt these interconnected technologies within two years. The growing ubiquity of AI and IoT renders businesses investing heavily in the technologies \u201cvulnerable to new vectors of cyberattacks.\u201d Just 16-17% of organisations think AI and IoT are \u2018very difficult\u2019 or \u2018extremely difficult\u2019 to protect. Simultaneously, only 8% of the AI users and 12% of the IoT owners believe their companies are fully protected.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cInterconnected technologies bring immense business opportunities but they also usher in a new era of <a href=\"https:\/\/interface.media\/blog\/2024\/03\/06\/man-not-machine-why-humans-might-be-the-best-cybersecurity-tool-in-the-fight-against-genai\/\">vulnerability to serious cyberthreats<\/a>,\u201d Ivan Vassunov, VP of corporate products at Kaspersky, commented. \u201cWith an increasing amount of data being collected and transmitted, cybersecurity measures must be strengthened.
